Room 2 Skrlatica
Double bed room | queen bed
Škrlatica is not only the second highest Slovene mountain, but also a fairy from Josip Vandot’s tales about invincible hero Kekec. Little Mežnar’s Gregec, whom everybody called Kekec, is a childish figure with the best qualities of a role model. Vandot put the tale into marvelous yet dangerous nature, full of rocky mass, slopes, precipices and abysses. Kekec’s stories occur in most picturesque mountains of the Julian Alps above Kranjska Gora and Gozd Martuljek. Childish world is interwoven with nature, animals and mythological creatures, among whom there is, beside ghosts and wild man Prisank, also the mutable fairy Škrlatica who helps the good and punishes the bad. Fairy Škrlatica (totally exhausted, barely breathing, bearing a spinning wheel in her hands): “Oh, Tinkara and Mojca! I can only spin clouds on my wheel, no more trees, mountains, laughter, skies. Only clouds, heavy, thick, purple, full of water and sadness. Water and sleep. Oh, what’s there to be, what’s there to be?”
